A Cone Beam CT (CBCT) is the gold standard for dental implants because, unlike a standard 2D X-ray, it provides a 3-dimensional view of your jaw. It allows your dentist to see the exact bone volume, density, and width, as well as the precise location of critical nerves and sinuses. This precision ensures the implant is placed safely and successfully, avoiding complications and ensuring long-term stability.
OPG (2D): An Orthopantomogram is a panoramic X-ray that shows the entire mouth in a single image. It is excellent for a general overview of all teeth, as well as checking wisdom teeth, or initial orthodontic assessments.
СВСТ (3D): A CBCT captures a 3D volume of a specific area. It is required when precise depth perception is needed, such as for implants, root canals (endodontics), or complex surgical extractions. Your dentist will prescribe the specific scan based on your treatment needs.
Yes. Modern CBCT machines, like the ones used at Stellar Dental Imagings, use a cone-shaped beam that focuses only on the area of interest to ensure you receive the lowest effective dose necessary for a clear diagnosis.
The actual scanning process is extremely fast—usually between 10 to 30 seconds. However, please allow about 15-20 minutes for the entire appointment, which includes registration, positioning, and verification of the image quality by our technicians.

Yes. To speed up your treatment, we can instantly share the digital DICOM files with your referring doctor via email or our secure cloud portal. This allows your dentist to view the scans before you even return to their clinic.
Preparation is very simple:
a) Remove Metal: You will be asked to remove any metal objects from the head and neck area, such as jewelry (earrings, necklaces, nose rings), hairpins, spectacles, and removable dentures, as these create "artifacts" on the image.
b) No Fasting Required: You can eat and drink normally before the scan.
Pregnancy: If you are pregnant or think you might be, please inform the technician immediately. While dental X-rays are low dose, we generally avoid them during pregnancy unless it is an absolute emergency.
Movement: You must be able to stay perfectly still for roughly 15 seconds. If you have a condition that causes tremors or difficulty holding still, please let our staff know so we can assist you.
